Mid-South is a full-service, consulting engineering firm providing solutions to clients in an array of industries from solid wood and engineered wood products, to pulp and paper to power and energy and bioenergy and pelletizing. We have experience in industrial projects from small capital projects to full greenfield projects. We are actively recruiting for an Electrical Engineer who is seeking refreshing new challenges; providing engineering services on small, moderate and major projects.
ROLE
Responsibilities:
Manages all the engineering aspects of projects of small to moderate scope within discipline or detailed phases of major project efforts.
Leads or conducts performance, cost and scheduling studies of varying size that are generally conventional in nature.
Supports operational areas through the application of standard and non-standard engineering techniques, practices and procedures.
Communicates engineering ideas, recommendations and evaluations to diverse internal groups.
Represents the Company's interests in engineering matters that may be varied and complex in nature.
Interacts with and provides broad knowledge technical support to other staff members.
Provides technical direction to contractors and company personnel on a regular, on-going basis.
Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests and aerial photographs to plan and design project.
Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and designs for projects.
Coordinates activities with and provides technical direction to Engineer I and II and Design/CAD Tech staff.
Attends client meetings.
Monitor on-site progress and perform other duties per the contract documents.
Review weekly reports (i.e. expense reports, labor recaps) for accuracy of project resources.
Perform business development tasks including making client contact, proposal preparation and presentations and client maintenance.
Participates in Company's marketing plan by writing technical articles, attend and represent Mid-South at relevant industry trade shows.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET)
Related experience including construction installations and field issues; and
Five or more years of related experience plus a Fundamentals of Engineering certificate; or
Five or more years of related experience plus a Master's Degree in Engineering; or
Equivalent combination of education and experience related to the discipline.
Active Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred. North Carolina licensure a preferred. NCEES registation a plus.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Broad knowledge and proven ability to apply engineering principles, practices and regulations to, and perform economic and decision analysis principles in the incumbent's respective discipline.
Ability to read, interpret and apply national, state and local codes and standards.
Ability to develop process design deliverables for construction, single lines, power plans, lighting, grounding, and conduit and cable schedules.
Ability to develop arc flash calculations.
Maintains competency in and serves as company resource in his or her field of expertise.
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Demonstrated good leadership skills, self-motivation, and good interpersonal skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents including general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedural documents or governmental regulations.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, write speeches, and presentations.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients, employees, project engineers and executive management of the Company.
In-depth knowledge of personal computers including demonstrated proficiency with 2D and 3D engineering design programs.
Working knowledge of personal computers including demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Products and Windows OS.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out complex instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and involving several abstract and concrete variables.
Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Pre-employment drug screening.
Background screening includes previous employment, education and criminal history.
TRAVEL
Travel to project sites on an occasional basis. May include day trips or overnight, and extended travel from time-to-time.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
