As a faculty member, serves as a model and mentor for other teachers, sharing a passion for a content area with students in engaging and meaningful ways that inspire inquiry and an enduring love of learning.
Contributes to the school's rich extracurricular program and participates actively in the life of our learning community.
Core Responsibilities As a Dean of Students, you will:
Assist the Head of Upper School in leading the Upper School grade leader team.
Coordinate with members of Student Support Services Team to foster the emotional and social health of students and to oversee the successful social and emotional transition of all students new to the Upper School.
In coordination with the Upper School Head and Assistant Upper School Head, oversee student behavior and discipline, including, but not limited to:
developing, reviewing and implementing behavioral regulations in conjunction with grade leaders, lead advisors, and the Head of Upper School; managing student compliance with standards of decorum, school rules and attendance; chairing the Judicial Board; and investigating student infractions and offering procedural recommendations to the Head of Upper School.
Direct and coordinate major student-life activities, including, but not limited to:
convocation, grade level class trips, and Spirit Week, as well as assemblies and other school events as directed.
Work with Experiential Learning Director to develop and sustain clubs and affinity groups.
Confer with the Middle School Assistant Head to address cross-divisional coordination of student events and activities.
As a Faculty Member, you will:
Teach a reduced load of Upper School courses (typically 10 contact periods) in a manner consistent with the mission and educational philosophies of Cary Academy.
Lead and/or support extracurricular activities.
Work collegially in teams in ways that foster professional collaboration and exchange.
Engage actively in equity and anti-racism work as part of the school's commitment to inclusion and justice.
Be readily available to students for extra help and guidance outside of class.
Communicates effectively with parents and responds to concerns in an appropriate and timely manner.
Eats lunch in the dining hall each day during the Upper School lunch period.
Supports students by attending a variety of student performances, events and competitions each year.
Shares responsibility for transporting students to school activities by occasionally driving a 14-passenger school activity bus.
Participates in an annual grade level trip.

Complete all required administrative and operational tasks and comply with all applicable regulatory requirements and School policies and procedures as articulated in handbooks, operating guides and other School policy and procedure communications and documentation in a responsive and timely manner.
Use designated technology assets and platforms as directed by School policies and procedures to allow for secure, effective, and collaborative school operations.
Work collaboratively with the Information Services team to research, implement and evaluate technology resources related to position responsibilities.
Perform other projects and duties as assigned in support of both divisional and school operations and initiatives.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
