We have experience in industrial projects from small capital projects to full greenfield projects. We are actively recruiting for an Civil CAD Designer for a 6-8 month contract.
Summary: Under general supervision, the Civil Designer II, is responsible for analyzing sketches, notes and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete new designs. The Civil Designer II will take direction and solicit feedback from project staff and Project Engineers in producing construction drawings. The incumbent will also interface with other disciplines and project control functions on a frequent basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Produce discipline specific construction drawings and deliverables.
Produce 2D detailed designs using AutoCAD based on general instruction and information such as from sketches, reference drawings, electronic images or verbal/written descriptions from Staff or Project Engineers and/or Senior Designers.
Produce minor, small-scale to increasingly complex detailed designs using Civil 3D software.
Develops designs for varied and increasingly complex structures, and parts of engineering systems under general supervision of department manager,
project engineer
or project manager.
Collects, reads and uses related reference documents and drawings prepared by other disciplines, vendors and outside sources.
Ensures compliance with approved design standards and to provide quality design, safety and constructability.
Completes interdisciplinary reviews to ensure coordination between departments.
Delegates minor or beginner-level drafting and design tasks to Designer I/Drafter and checks his/her work for accuracy and completion.
Assists Document Control and Project Administrative staff with assembling bid, approval, and construction issue drawing packages.
EDUCATION AND
Experience:
Associates or undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or Design; or
5-9 years of related design and/or field experience; or
Specialized courses or certification in drafting, design and engineering practices; or
Equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated ability to work with 2D drafting/design software (AutoCAD) and Civil 3D or LDD software.
Must understand erosion control calcuations.
Intermediate knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and codes.
Must be able to read, interpret and use Mid-South Engineering standards and discipline-specific standards.
Able to work under general supervision and capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work produced.
Must be a self-starter and able to contribute in design reviews.
MS Office Skills including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Must be willing to support a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Must be willing to learn new software and processes.
Good communication skills (both oral and written).
Good organizational skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Experience in working with multiple discipline projects.
Ability to work to time constraints and schedules, and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to assist and help develop less experienced designers and drafters.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
