We are actively recruiting for an Mechanical Engineer who is seeking refreshing new challenges; providing engineering services on small, moderate and major industrial projects.
Summary: Under general direction, the Mechanical Engineer plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates the engineering work for a for a total project of small to moderate scope within their area of discipline or for detailed phases of part of a major project.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Manages all the engineering aspects of projects of small to moderate scope within discipline or detailed phases of major project efforts.
Leads or conducts performance, cost and scheduling studies of varying size that are generally conventional in nature.
Supports operational areas through the application of standard and non-standard engineering techniques, practices and procedures.
Communicates engineering ideas, recommendations and evaluations to diverse internal groups.
Represents the Company's interests in engineering matters that may be varied and complex in nature.
Interacts with and provides broad knowledge technical support to other staff members.
Provides technical direction to contractors and company personnel on a regular, on-going basis.
Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests and aerial photographs to plan and design project.
Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and designs for projects.
Coordinates activities with and provides technical direction to Engineer I and II and Design/CAD Tech staff.
Attends client meetings.
Monitor on-site progress and perform other duties per the contract documents.
Perform business development tasks including making client contact, proposal preparation and presentations and client maintenance.
Participates in Company's marketing plan by writing technical articles, attend and represent Mid-South at relevant industry trade shows.
EDUCATION AND
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET);
Active Professional Engineering (PE) license required;
Eight to Ten plus years of related experience;
Industrial experience specifically in material handling and processing equipment is required. Wood products industry experience a plus.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Broad knowledge and proven ability to apply engineering principles, practices and regulations to, and perform economic and decision analysis principles in the incumbent's respective discipline.
Ability to read, interpret and apply national, state and local codes and standards.
Maintains competency in and serves as company resource in his or her field of expertise.
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Demonstrated good leadership skills, self-motivation, and good interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead a project team required.
Ability to read and interpret documents including general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedural documents or governmental regulations.
Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, speeches, and presentations.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients, employees, project engineers and executive management of the Company.
Experience with 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (Autodesk Inventor preferred) engineering design programs.
Working knowledge of personal computers including demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Products and Windows OS.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out complex instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and involving several abstract and concrete variables.
Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record.

TRAVEL
Travel to project sites on an occasional basis. May include day trips or overnight, and extended travel from time-to-time.

Job will generally be performed in an office environment, but may require travel to visit a client's office or industrial/construction job site. Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply. When performing work outside Mid-South Engineering offices, appropriate safety training and safety equipment will be provided by Mid-South and/or Client as required.
Additional hours beyond 40 per week may be necessary as workload's dictate. This may include weekdays, weekends and/or holidays.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
